CRECER SUSTAINABILITY PROGRAMME
We choose to pay a social premium to producer group Racafé in Colombia to support coffee farmers through their CRECER programme.
WHAT IS CRECER?
The CRECER standard supports coffee growers across environmental, social and economic areas, helping to build a more sustainable future for coffee-producing communities.
It provides a framework for continuous improvement throughout Racafé’s supply chain, supporting producers as they adopt more sustainable farming practices and strengthen the long-term resilience of their farms.
The standard focuses on protecting the natural resources and communities that coffee production depends on, including soil, water and biodiversity, while also supporting better social and economic outcomes for growers and their families.
By bringing together producers, buyers and consumers around a shared set of standards, CRECER helps promote responsible coffee production, stronger rural communities and a fairer, more inclusive supply chain.
HOW IS OUR PREMIUM USED?
Through the CRECER programme, our coffee purchases, made via our green coffee broker DRWakefield contribute an additional 3 cents per pound directly to participating coffee producers, recognising their commitment to sustainable farming practices and continuous improvement.
Over time these contributions have supported a range of producer and community development projects across Colombia including composting facilities, improvements to coffee drying infrastructure, replacement of agricultural covers, technical support for growers and improvements to local sanitation facilities.
These initiatives are helping producers reduce waste, improve farm efficiency, strengthen coffee quality and build greater environmental and economic resilience, while allowing Cafeology to support positive social and environmental impact throughout our coffee supply chain
